Packed Cuckstye Question Time Event Wins Concession

A Question Time event organised by the Stop Cuck-stye Action Group was packed out at Queen’s Hall, with standing room only.

Almost two hundred local residents came to the event to hear the panel discussion on the proposed Fairfax development to build 1,200 houses merging Cuckfield and Ansty.

Local MP Mims Davies accompanied by Jonathan Ash Edwards, Leader of MSDC Jonathan Ash-Edwards and Leader of the Lib Dem Group Alison Bennett, along with Andy Burton, Chair of Cuckfield Parish Couniols and the Sussex branch of the CPRE — all did their best to answer a range of question from the floor.

A key moment came, when Jonathan announced that the Tory Group on MSDC would seek to exclude the site in the next draft of the District Plan. This was met by widespread applause although members of the panel and audience warned this was just one step in a long road that would lead to a hotly contested planning appeal, in which the developer would fight hard to get the green light for the development.
